National Service Scheme (NSS) was launched during 1969, the birth centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi, in 37 universities involving 40000 students. NSS is an extension dimension to the higher education system to orient the student youth to community service while they are studying in educational institutions.

With the aim of “Service to mankind is service to God” National Service Scheme (NSS) was started in this college during 1994 with a total of 50 student volunteers in 01 unit which gradually expanded to 04 units of 200 volunteers.

The N.S.S. units of the college function under the chairmanship of the Principal who is assisted by teachers in charge of N.S.S. to be called as Programme Officer. There are 4 units of N.S.S. in this college as Unit -1, Unit – 2 and Unit 4 for boys’ and Unit – 3 for girls’ having student enrollment strength of 50 each. N.S.S. is open to all students. Each student on the rolls of N.S.S. shall have to produce minimum 120 hour of work in an academic year. Students interested to join any one of the 4 units of N.S.S. shall apply in a prescribed form to the N.S.S. Programme Officer within a month after admission.

Understanding the motto : NOT ME BUT YOU student volunteers culture self-less service to the needy sections of the society. They undertake various social activities as and when required which automatically help in development of their personality through community service. Dr. J. R. Pattanaik, Programme Officer was awarded with State level Best NSS Programme Officer Award in 2015.
