National Voters Day 2023
On January 25, 2023, the Election Commission of India observed the 13th National Voters’ Day.
HH Smt. Droupadi Murmu, the Hon’ble President of India, was the Chief Guest at the national event. This year’s NVD theme, ‘Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure,’ is dedicated to voters and conveys individuals’ feelings and aspirations towards participation in the electoral process through the power of their vote.
The logo is intended to convey the festiveness and inclusiveness of the electoral process. The Ashoka Chakra in the background represents the world’s largest democracy, while the inked finger represents the participation of each and every voter in the country. The tick mark in the logo represents the voter making an informed decision.
National Voters Day 2023 is observed on January 25 to commemorate the founding day of the Election Commission of India, which was established on that date in 1950. The Indian government chose National Voters Day 2023 as a way to motivate young people to participate in democracy.
The theme of National Voters Day 2023 is Making Elections Inclusive, Accessible, and Participatory. The goal of the National Voters Day 2023 Theme is to encourage more people, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, or other characteristics, to vote in elections. The Indian Election Commission is also functioning to simplify and improve voter accessibility throughout the voting process.
As part of this National cause, students including NCC Cadets, NSS and YRC Volunteers took part in various events such as organising rallies, sensitising youth to vote, and administering the Oath for participating in a free and fair voting system, which is the foundation of nation building.
